I know my neighbours. I just don't know their names because we don't use names in conversation. Well, of course I know some of them by name, but I've greeted the same faces for thirty years and I still don't know or remember the names behind them. And that doesn't bother me - why should it?
This is so true! I have an Aussie friend who visited me some years ago. In the end of her 2-week visit she finally asked: why don't people like me here? I found out that the reason for her feeling was, that no-one called her BY NAME. Happy that she asked to solve out one problem :)
